The best place to take pictures of the Hakuba Sanzan. There is a lawn space along the river perfect for picnics. Most of the river water is quite high, but it’s not hard to find good spots to play in.

Located at an altitude of 1,200 meters, Kitaone Kogen can be reached by car or lift, and offers a spectacular view of the majestic Northern Alps and Hakuba Mountains. You can also take the Morgenrot Sunrise Tour (August to November) or the Galaxy Kogen Tour. After enjoying the celestial shows that unfold before your eyes one after another, you can see the ever-changing gradation of the sky at sunrise.

Happo-ike Pond is located at an altitude of 2,060 meters and is a spectacular spot for half day trips. On the trekking course to Happo-ike Pond, you can see the Hakuba Sanzan reflected in the water. The course is dotted with spots from which the eleven peaks of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains can be seen. On clear days, you can even see Mt. Fuji from the first cairn. The area is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including rare alpine plants and Japanese serow and grouse, both of which are designated as special natural treasures.

The headwaters of Himekawa River are located across the Aragami Forest on the north side of Oyakai Marsh. Himekawa River, which is fed by spring water, flows parallel to National Route 148 for a distance of 58 km and empties into the Sea of Japan at the mouth of Itoigawa City in Niigata Prefecture. In Japan, it is rare for the headwaters of a major river to flow along a national highway.

A recommended walking path that can be reached on foot from Hakuba Station. The walking path continues both down and upstream across the railroad tracks. It is a pleasant walking path amidst greenery. On a clear day, you can get a wonderful view of the Northern Alps.

Aoni Village, which was selected as an important traditional building preservation district in 2000, is a row of thatched houses and storehouses. Its 200 terraced rice paddies built with stone walls have been selected as one of the 100 best rice terraces in Japan. Park in the designated area and take a stroll through the village.

The Hakuba Ski Jump Stadium is widely known in Japan and around the world as the stage of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
A lift between the Normal and Large Hills takes you up to the start point, which is approximately 140 meters above ground. There is also an Olympic Gallery on the mezzanine floor of the start tower.
Lift service is suspended between early April and early December.

The open-air baths have a view of Hakuba Sanzan and Happo-one. During cherry blossom season, you can bathe while enjoying the nighttime cherry blossoms. This hot spring is the closest to Reposer Hakuba and is popular among locals.

This renovated hot spring is the largest in Hakuba Happo Hot Spring. It features an open-air bath containing natural hydrogen and also a footbath. It is conveniently located near the Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal.
